Calculate Business Cash Flow
How to Calculate Cash Flow
Cash flow measures the movement of money into and out of a business during a specific reporting period.
1. Total Cash Inflows
Total Cash Inflows = Sales Revenue + Other Cash Inflows
2. Total Cash Outflows
Total Cash Outflows = Operating Expenses + Payroll + Inventory Purchases + Loan Payments + Taxes + Other Cash Outflows
3. Net Cash Flow
Net Cash Flow = Total Cash Inflows − Total Cash Outflows
4. Ending Cash Balance
Ending Cash Balance = Beginning Cash Balance + Net Cash Flow
Example
Suppose a business starts the month with $10,000, receives $27,000 in cash inflows and pays $15,000 in cash outflows.
- Total Cash Inflows: $27,000
- Total Cash Outflows: $15,000
- Net Cash Flow: $12,000
- Ending Cash Balance: $22,000
